Last weekend, we had a great celebration for my lovely Grandma's birthday..As kids we were always excited during her birthday coz it meant lots of good food and fun time with my cousins!

As we grew up, the tradition didnt change, we will all gather for Grandma's birthday and now its the kids that are running wild, while the adults will chat and catch up..As the year goes, our family grew larger and larger!

I pray for Grandma's health and wish she would be happy everyday!

Little Miss Perfect

I wish i was..Little Miss Perfect..But Im not. Yet.

Recently a million things happened at a rate that i can't take in fast enough..First it was starting up our blogshop and vesting all our energies into making it work. Highs and lows in a single day is rather common and making decisions that can affect the investment is such a thrilling experience!

Apart from that, i took a really big step.

I now model for On Cloud Nine which invariably means letting the whole see & judge the imperfect Regina.

Syeo says the opinion of those who doesnt matter doesnt MATTER!

Its true but somehow me the faint-hearted girl who has loads of insecurites is feeling butterflies in my tum tum. When our collection 3 was launched, i felt my heart thumping hard and mind filled with "what ifs" and i can only pray that i made the right decision.

Well back to Little Miss Perfect training, perhaps one day i can be one. Till that day, im still the same girl and i know somehow, it will all be well.

Hello You! Sorry for the lack of updates here but i have been really really really busy, with all my weekends burnt for a good cause.

Yes. So you heard. Lynn & I started a new blogshop known as ON Cloud Nine.

I'm loving my new startup, it is a dream come true for both of us! Sometimes i cant even believe how we made it happen in 2 weeks. Its sorta like the best job anyone can ever have (or the worst one, keke)..I get to think of creative marketing ideas and put what i have learnt in Uni to good use too (although im already pretty rusty but it reminded me how much i enjoyed marketing classes). Making calculated risks, managing our tiny budget and of coz fun activities in the midst of it.

It's a daunting task yes, scary & worrysome to the core. It is true that there are so many things that i dun know or understand or neva thought of before. Because of this venture, im forced to think & retink & innovate..i do enjoy such moments (provided it doesnt leave me with a blistering headache). I pray that our hard work will pay off and thank God for this great experience..

Oh before i forget, i wana take this opportunity to thank Min, our little sis for her help with modeling our apparels & being sweet & accomodating to us!!MUACKS!

Keeping the Elephants Away??

With whole new loads of fresh worries coming into my system daily, i had to find a way to deal with them before i die of stress. Funny how life gives you hints when you are searching for answers. I found mine in a small booklet, while shopping in an unexpected place.

Did you know that worrying is paying interest in troubles that may never come due? If you are good at math, you should know overly worrying about things doesnt do you any good.

Here's a good story on worrying:

A man was sitting on a park bench shredding old newspapers and spreading them around. "What are you doing?" asked a bystander. "Im spreading this paper around to keep the elephants away." The visitor looked around the well kept city park. "I dont see any elephants" he said. The man smiled "Works pretty good doesnt it," he replied.

Worry is like that. We expend alot of energy on problems that don't exist. Yes we all face real problems but we often create additional ones by thinking of all the bad things that might happen but never do.

If you are guilty of this too, know this: Worry superimposes the future on the present. Therefore do not worry about tommorrow for tommorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Right now im racking my brains on how we can promote our new blogshop to boost the traffic & sales... We are having an ad appearing in a magazine soon so my creative & marketing hat is now ON(very dusty one of coz)

I've always fancy creative advertisements with a little humour or those that lets your imagination do the work, the kind that stops short of telling you what its selling but make you realise in a clever way!

On the last day, Jess & I grabbed the little time we had to have our last shopping spree @ Siam Square & MBK..

Lunch at the Pizza Company..

Just look at the chilli flakes on Jess' pizza, damn scary!

At nightfall, we went back to Suan Lum night bazaar for authentic Thai cuisine

After dinner, we went in search for a pet shop to buy someting to make up to our furry babies.

In this shop, we found 2 lovelies, who understands Thai!!

The next day, before we leave for the airport, i took more pics of the hotel:

We enjoyed the entire trip immensely, hope we can come back again soon!

The next morn, the 4 of us woke up bright & early for Breakfast at the hotel & start Day 2 shopping!

Chef says this decor is like heaven, so bright & airy..

We went to Platinum again to finish what we couldnt yesterday, after 6 hours..we were too beat & hungry to move another inch, so we went for lunch @ Fuji's

Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel for a rest & look at my stash! Wee!

Jess made reservations for us for dinner at the Bangkok Sky restaurant @ Baiyoke Sky Hotel's 78th floor..being a first timer, i was pretty excited!

Includes Free admission to the Observation Deck @ 77th Floor & Revolving View point on 84th floor! Up we go!

Excitement!! Too bad the restaurant doesnt allow cameras..

After that we went to the Observation deck for a Panoramic view of Bangkok

On the revolving platform..quick i feel nauseous liao!

Tehee..

Apparently, this hotel is one of the tallest buildings in the world!

Looks like Singapore building is also on the world tallest charts!

As the trusty west side scouts, Chef & I always kept a lookout on the great places to eat so that we can JIO our dear pals to try them out together.

This time, we found a new restaurant @ Jurong point which serves decent food!

Our orders turned out as good as it looks!

I must say this pasta is soo yummy with the thai sauce, must try!

German beer & my fav drink..

I told Alan that this meal was on him..see his reaction!Ha!

Afterwards, we took the MRT home, just one stop away..

Well it was fun being a food scout!

The Most Exciting Project of my Life

I'm in the midst of the most exciting project of my life, all that planning, researching, constant learning suddenly felt so fulfilling. My brain was working overtime & ideas pop up non-stop (bed time was affected due to my excitement of coz *panda eyes*)

Finally for once i felt this was so right and mayb this is what i have been waiting for afterall..

I'm keeping mum about the project untill everyting is all set to go! I'm sure it will be a successful since i have the best partner/s that any girl can have.

Meanwhile, will be working real hard, wish me luck!

New Shoes!

Its been Fashionweek in the office lately as Mr Yeo has a whole new wardbrobe of tailored clothes while i had my stash from Thailand.

To chase away our midweek blues, we reminded ourselves of our pretty new shoes ( please ignore the fact that my feet looked stumpy)! Mr Yeo is happy he got a fine pair of brown shoes and a new belt to match!

Kids nowadays are more into computer games, ps, nintendo,Wii than what we grew up with. Back then when we were young, life was much simpler and children were having lots of fun outdoors.

As an active little girl (hard to believe i know) i have always enjoyed games like zero-point, soccer, catching, bad minton and hop-scotch wiyth my frens and super fun cousins..

Cant wait to teach my "rabbit" hop-scotch someday, so i can get an excuse to relive the joys again! Wee! Look forward to that day!

My Tooth Doctor

Took the replacement holiday to visit the dentist today since my wisdom tooth has been trying to get my attention lately.

Shivered less in the chair than expected since the dentist was really nice and gentle.. i always feel so embarassed to let strangers look into my mouth (let alone a guy) and chided myself for not brushing or flossing enough..

He told me he would like to see me sooner (which at first i thought i was a good patient), ended up its because my teeth gets dirty faster than normal people! *dig me a hole in the ground!*

Anyways, as expected, i should really remove the wisdom tooth *apprehensive* which costs SGD1600 for the whole procedure! Erm..let me mull over this for a while ( i already have 10,000 excuses not to but only 1 reason to go for it. PAIN.)

For now, my pearlies are whiter, hope i can keep them that way!

After sending our furry pets home, we went on to part II to celebrate MidAutumn festival. This year strangely the festival swoshed by in a rush and i didnt even have a chance to carry the paper laterns..sigh..

Anyways we were invited to a feast at Jarol's, while waiting for our friendly neighbor:

You need to take the gift and ask God for wisdom to cultivate it untill it becomes such a powerful tool or "precious stone" that wherever you turn, you may prosper!

I have always been someone who is rather particular with colors matching and i recalled when i was in poly, we attended this lesson on colors during ettiquette class which i enjoyed alot.

So I went digging for info on colors & learnt someting!

The color wheel or color circle is the basic tool for combining colors. The first circular color diagram was designed by Sir Isaac Newton in 1666.

Did you know that...

the most common version is a wheel of 12 colors based on the RYB (or artistic) color model.

3 Primary colors are red, yellow and blue.
3 Secondary colors (green, orange and purple) are created by mixing two primary colors.
6 Tertiary colors are created by mixing primary and secondary colors

The color circle can be divided into warm and cool colors.
Warm colors (like red, orange) are vivid and energetic, and tend to advance in space.
Cool colors (like green, blue) give an impression of calm, and create a soothing impression.

White, black and gray are considered to be neutral, which are colors not in the color circle.

Tints,Shades & Tones: If a color is made lighter by adding white, the result is called a tint. If black is added, the darker version is called a shade. And if gray is added, the result is a different tone.

Color Schemes:

Complemenary colors scheme are those that are opposite each other on the color wheel

Analogous color schemes use colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.

Triadic color scheme uses colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel (see triangle above)

Colors affect us in numerous ways, both mentally and physically e.g when i see pink i feel happy, green i feel calm?

This is so fun, perhaps i should start a "research-of-the-month" posts to share with you all the interesting and silly stuff i read about!

Ghost Whisperer

Hubs & I have been watching "Ghost Whisperer" by Jennifer Love Hewitt every night before we go to bed. Now on Season 1, 4 more seasons to go!

It made me realise a couple of things:

(1) I don't think i want a gift like hers (its kinda tramatic what she goes through every episode without going mad one day), i dun mind being able to read minds though (Mentalist, remember?)

(2) I love her fashion sense, esp her lingerie!

(3) Someday, i would want to own a shop too, doing things that i love everyday

(4) Her hubby Jim is like Chef, so nice & perfect!

Most of all, i realised that death was inevitable, maybe too sudden for my fancy. When its time, i hope that a phone would have been invented, to allow spirits to call loved ones to say their last goodbyes..

While Chef & i were in Clementi the other day, we took the chance to take a walk and see what are the changes to this old estate.

We were excited to find Uncle Sam's claypot rice, the same one we used to patronise while i worked at Shenton Way! After bring Brenda & Dan, we jio-ed the usual gang to have a taste of the good old claypot fare!

For my birthday dinner, i specially requested for Chef to cook me steak & salmon, just like he did for one Valentine's Day..

So he got real busy in the kitchen..

Just as we finished our romantic dinner, my GGFs appeared at my doorstep with a special gift.It turned out to be a Prada box within a Gucci box..specially thought of by Lynnie!

This lovely darling greeted me as i popped the box open at the KTV room we booked for the night.. Thank you GGFs, i love it!!!

My next surprise came soon as Elaine & Yida caught me off guard with a cake from Bakerzin!

On 12 Sep 2009, I officially turned 29..Chef brought me to JP for lunch and get some ingredients to decorate my home baked cake..

We tried the new Indonesian restaurant at the ground flr of JP, but upstairs foodcourt one much better!

Its been awhile since i had Ice Choco, so with my devil horns showing, i had to indulge! Ice Choco topped with Whipped Cream and fudge!

Afterwards we went for a movie and grocery shopping a little around 2am to prep for the birthday treat that Chef was giving me..

As a girl, i always loved to go to bookstores or shops selling funny ornaments but almost everytime, i don't get anyting. Why? As Brenda always askes me, buy and do what with it? So now, even just by browsing and looking at them, i feel happier!

Its true that most of the things that catches my fancy is rather redundant but they are soooo lovely and i love useless stuff i guess!

Attempting to make a Birthday Cake

Its Sep again so it was time for Regina to bake fat hubby a bdae cake as promised..

His pick this year: Honey Choco Cake (Which was NOT easy to make at all..)

I wish i could say that i made this, but it really is the sample pic from the receipe book..When u see my finished pdt, you will recognise that its a disaster!! No bees for Alan though..

According to the receipe, after baking the cake, i will need to prepare the glaze and smooth it over the exterior to make it shiny and yum!

So i worked hard..

Being a kitchen elf doesnt mean i can be a baker overnight, oh well, i got the measurements for the honey wrong (mistaken ml for grams), ended up the cake was soooo sweet that it was Christmas for the ants! By the time i realised, it was too late. So i prayed to the oven god..

End up, my prayers didnt work and why is my cake cracked?? ARH!! QING TIAN PI LI!

By then it was already midnight and Alan already fell asleep, so i decided that to get some rest and continue tmr since the cake needed to be cooled..

It was so exciting!

Lynnie, Ariel & Cass decided to peddle their wares at the Car Boot Sale held at Big Splash for the weekend! What happens is you get a stall size of your parked car and sell your stuff. So with 3 cars, we got a reasonable lot space and whole day of sun & fun! I packed my stuff and had a taste of selling clothes too!!

While Brenda and Dan were away to the Bali resorts, she lent us her car and i loved it!

Apart from all the plush toys in her car, i loved the anti glare window, small and compact body plus the sporty outlook..this is totally a girl's car!

On the eve of National Day, i was invited to attend the wedding of my only Ang Mo fren cum colleague, Yann & Tian Yi's wedding held at Sheraton Hotel.

It was a beautiful story of a French guy who fell for a sweet Chinese girl, after their rollerblade crash at the Hyde Park in UK. Fate really has her way!

Recommending the Papaya Pork Chop Bee Hoon from the HK Cafe in PS..Never knew Papaya was such a great cooking ingredient, the soup is super sweet!

Exploding Soda

Why do people tap on soda cans/bottles before opening them? Does it prevent exploding soda?

I promised a co-worker i would find out and here's why:

People tap on soda cans to avoid a soda explosion from a can that has been shaken up. It decreases the likelihood of an explosion, but a positive outcome is not guaranteed.
Carbonated beverages contain dissolved carbon-dioxide gas. The way to get gas to dissolve in liquid is to pressurize the mixture, meaning that the pressure inside a soda can is greater than the pressure outside the can.

Because gas is lighter than liquid, as soon as it comes out of solution, it rises to escape the can. When it escapes, it carries with it a small amount of liquid from the very top of the can because that liquid is blocking its path.
When you shake a soda can, some of the gas comes out of solution. There are a bunch of carbon dioxide bubbles clinging to the inside of the can, trying to get out. When you open this can and the gas rises to escape, it doesn't only push on the liquid at the very top of the can. Because gas bubbles are stuck to the top, sides and bottom of the can, they force all of the liquid out because all of the liquid is blocking their upward path.
When you tap on the can, you knock bubbles off the bottom and sides of the can, at which point they rise to the top (because gas is lighter than liquid) and there is only a small amount of liquid blocking their escape when you open the can.
Unfortunately, there's no way to tell how many of the bubbles you've displaced in your tapping effort. The wisest course of action is to let the can sit for a while so the gas has time to redissolve. But if you're too thirsty to wait, tapping gently on the can and then slowly popping the top (so the drop in pressure is less sudden) will certainly decrease your chances of getting drenched.
